Putting the Glorious in to Goodwood
As the English Social Season draws to an end, there is still room to squeeze in one more racing event and what an event it is too. Running from 28th July to 1st August 2015, “Glorious Goodwood” was not named as such without good reason. Set high on the undulating Sussex Downs, this race meeting described by the Times as “One of the most beguiling of racing weeks” and by Edward VII as “ a garden party with racing tacked on”, is home to one of the most beautiful racecourses in the world.
In addition to its gorgeous surroundings, Goodwood attracts the very best from the international world of horse racing and as with many of the summer social occasions, there is a dress code with hat wearing encouraged. However, whilst Cheltenham is famous for pearls and fur and Aintree for its colourfully attired attendees, Glorious Goodwood’s signature style is low key luxury, more restrained than Ascot but still glamorous. So, reach for your hats once more and celebrate the final few weeks of the season in style.
