TRM in New York

TRM is quite the jet-setter, and when she’s not off to Europe, or spending Christmas in the Caribbean, there’s always somewhere new and exciting on the cards. Her latest destination was New York, where she stayed at the Gramercy Hotel designed by Julian Schnabel – alright for some, huh!?

On her travels, TRM took the opportunity to get cultural, and visited a few art galleries. Here she is at El Anatsui’s Grace and Gravity exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. The show featured more than 30 pieces of metal and wood work that “transform appropriated objects into site-specific sculptures.” Gabriela hides behind a veil crafted from the metal foil from the top of wine bottles.

Twelve giant wall pieces depict Anatsui’s career through more recent work, all of which is created with milk and wine bottle caps and hung like shrouds around the space – a must-see for anyone visiting NYC before the exhibition’s closure in August.
