Pop-Up Shops: Hatitecture and Un-Veil
Gabriela Ligenza’s signature pop-up shops began two years ago with Hatitecture, a collaboration with design duo ‘you&me’. Combining both party’s love for fashion and architecture, Hatitecture challenged up and coming designers and architects to create hats inspired by London as they saw it.
The playful and exciting were displayed in Gabriela Ligenza’s ‘Hats and the City’ pop-up shop front, which coincided with 2010’s London Festival of Architecture, and so the Ligenza pop-up shops were born! Keep an eye on byligenza.com for some exciting new pop-ups in the near future.
In the countdown to the Royal Wedding in 2011, Gabriela Ligenza and you&me joined forces once more for pop-up concept store, Un-Veil. The store was one of many Royal Wedding events hosted at Duke of York Square, and was decorated with a 20m veil hung from the ceiling, along with vintage chandelier lights to give a jewelled effect.
The event coincided with the ‘unveiling’ of Gabriela Ligenza’s range of Royal Wedding hats. You&me said of the exhibitions décor, “The feeling of the space is very much about something suspended above your head, similar to wearing a hat.”
